After a 3 month hiatus (when I was on a project outside New York), I am back to being a regular on the"E" (For those who are not familiar with what I am referring to, The New York E Subway Line is what I mean). I do the WTC - 7Av/53rd street stretch daily. The E trainset composition is now all R160 - which is great. That conversion of trainsets was well underway even before my travel. The other change I noticed was that, in off-peak hours, they open only one door per car when the trains wait at WTC. I am guessing this is for energy conservation ans seems like a sensible move. The only catch is that, if you choose to walk past a car to the next one, you have to recalibrate your judgement - for you cannot just hop into the next door.
7Av/53rd Street is unique in that you can seemingly head off in opposite directions while actually going the same way. So, on the upper level, you have the "E" going one way and the "B" and "D" going the other way but you can take either and still get to, say, W4 street.
Prepping my mountainbike for sale (I never use it) and a big part of that is cleaning. So Genevieve says "Daddy, can I clean my bike?"

Such a nice night for mid-November at the 400 Bar. Athletes in Slacks (myspace) warmed up the crowd with their laidback loungey harmonizing sound that only two keyboarders and a guitarist can produce. The band claims all their songs are about love, except later on their hour-long set, they introduced a song about hating two guys from New York. They did finish strong with a cover of INXS's "Never Tear Us Apart", and that's what really matter.
The first time I heard about Swedish band Little Dragon, was in January. Ceji was really into them. Since we generally like Swedish bands here, I did try and keep up with their whereabouts. As it turns out, they're in the middle of their tour through the US to promote their sophomore album, Machine Dreams. Although the band's been here already, they confessed last night that this was their first time in Minneapolis.
From what I heard from their live set, their new songs seems to drifts from the R&B and Jazz influence to more electro and beats. I think the combination works well for them, especially since I like their big beats/electronica sound.

I've been to a lot of shows lately, and I can tell you that this was one of the best shows yet. They're heading their way to the East Coast, so definitely check them out. If they're not heading through your city, you should check out Machine Dreams, out now on Peacefrog Records.

Always enjoyable.... and, it seems, about to embark on a tour of europe, so if you're over that way, be sure to keep your eyes and ears peeled. Or maybe just look at his website for tour dates (might be easier).

On the first episode 'Vicki' states that she was shocked at how poorly she treated her husband 'Donn' last year, and he felt this behavior could not continue. He was tired of being put down, (that is an understatement btw)...
It amazes me that people have to see themselves on TV before they realize a change is necessary in their lives. Is it because they see themselves with hindsight and regret how they acted or felt - because they don't actually *think* about their words/actions while they are saying/doing them? Or because they are mortified to realize that the entire viewing audience judges their behavior as disgusting and for that reason decide a change is imminent?
I'd like to see a few people I know on a show like that. Oh, if only! Not at all to prove I'm right about their bad behavior, (but I really am), but to facilitate a change in them to make the world a better place (and no I'm not being dramatic!).
As for me? I think I'd be okay with my words/action, but I'd probably be mortified at the size of my ass...
