How do you answer this question by a four-year-old:
Why do boys swim wearing only a "jatti" (*Panty) while girls have to wear a swim suit?
PS: I tried searching for the picture of a nice swimsuit to use with this post, but I will pass, for the obvious results that came out of google images.

I think it's sad that a four-year-old girl had to ask this question in the first place. I'm afraid this is just the first of the many discrepancies she's is going to notice as she gets older. :(
My mom just said, 'girls have breasts'.

I will only have myself to blame if she grows up to be a man-hater.
L, I usually tell my son that girls' clothes are prettier than boys' clothes when he complains that I never return empty-handed from a store without buying her a pretty dress or a shiny bauble. I know it's unfair, but it's so much more fascinating to shop for little girls.
"Maybe you can become a designer when you grow up and make cool clothes for boys," I usually say to him. (I sincerely hope he has a backup plan in that case.)
