Eight Random Paths to Narcissim

[this is good]
Can't swim. No athletic ability. Can't sing or carry a tune. So can't comment on half your random stuff.
But I'm really surprised at 1. I thought your eschewal of TV was based on some socially conscious ideals. It's a real letdown to find out that it's based on something as commonplace as an addiction to TV serials ;)
So why is Arunn off TV-viewing?
Was he forced to morally support you?
As a husband of a strong-willed lady myself, I suspect that to be the prime reason :D
And poor V, she suffers a lack of education from TV because of her mom's addiction. You really shouldn't deprive the kid :D

Is'nt awareness of soap-addiction itself a major social consciousness? :)
It so happened Arunn is not into TV as well. When we first "met" and I told him I would rather not have TV in the house, I think that sort of clinched the deal with him :)
The daughter has not yet succumbed to peer pressure to feel the lack of tv in the house. But then, she has just started school. But she has already taken to books in a big way (she has as big a library as us), and I hope that will keep television out of her mind.

I'm so impressed by your commitment to keep your house television-free that I think of you every time I yell at the kids to turn the TV off (every five minutes or so until I turn it off myself). The husband wasn't too thrilled when I proposed the idea of making our own house television-free. He's afraid he might have to make conversation instead.
Terri, we have our own devils to fight ! I yell at my kid to get off the computer every five minutes or so, until I drag her kicking and screaming from the computer. So, the computer is actually a substitute for TV at our house. The only (positive, I hope) difference is that the computer is interactive, while the television is not. So, V now knows which letter is where on the keyboard (she can't even write letters too well yet !), and is adept with the mouse enough to play jigsaws on the internet !
I suspect she will start blogging soon, considering her genetic relationship to two avid bloggers ! :)
