Summer activities
If you are the type that does not quite relate to sending the children off to summer camp, and the blazing sun precludes outdoor activities, here are some activities that I found V to enjoy. These craft activities are suited better for 6-7 year olds, but with younger children, the parent needs to make them while the kids watch and help out.
1. Paper craft-
This is quite easy, because you get books that have pre-drawn designs and you merely cut along the dotted lines and glue as instructed.

2. Sand art
This is also pretty simple, you get the entire kit comprising the art paper, colored sand and the works. Just follow instructions. Needs a lot of patience and a strong back, I warn you.

You get the Vikas books in book stores and the sand art kit in one particular craft shop in Adyar (L.B. Road), called R.S Supermarket.

I really love that elephant papercraft, Lakshmi! It's great so cute!
1. a box of crayons and a huge sheet of paper. You can even frame it and put it up on the wall and claim that your kid is a modern artist.
2. buy a couple of floats and swimsuits and pack off to the pool. You can spend hours there. children love water.
3. If you don't freak out at mess, a sand box with beach toys.
4. Clay modeling.
