What the F?
I usually do not use expletives in public domains. But this one is an exception.
A bl**dy b@$(@rd has this to say:
US President George Bush has joined his top diplomat in suggesting that the growing prosperity of India's large middle class is contributing to rising food prices around the world."...
The idiot has guts, I should say, someone ought to run the following facts through his empty head.
U.S. Wastes $14 Billion in Food & Crops Every Year
Current figures show how half of food in the U.S. and a third of food in the UK goes to waste. In the U.S., this amounts to total losses of up to $100 billion per year, $20 billion of that occurring in the farm and processing sectors, and $30-40 billion occurring in the retail sector. Household losses account for a further $40 billion, reveals research conducted by Dr Jones.
Epidemics of Abundance: Overeating and Slimming in the USA and Britain since the 1950s
Body weight has risen in defiance of health and appearance norms. The social epidemics of overeating and slimming were driven by market forces and the psychology of eating: restrained eating is easily disinhibited by stress. For men, the rise in body weight was associated with the decline of family eating and exposure to greater food variety. For women, the ‘cult of slimming’ was associated with mating competition, driven initially by adverse sex ratios. Food abundance made a mockery of the rational consumer. Paradoxically, the costs of abundance fell more heavily on the poor, who have had less access to the resources of self-control.
During the past 20 years there has been a dramatic increase in obesity in the United States. [...]
In 2006, only four states had a prevalence of obesity less than 20%. Twenty-two states had a prevalence equal or greater than 25%; two of these states (Mississippi and West Virginia) had a prevalence of obesity equal to or greater than 30%.
DEVELOPMENT-U.S.: Food Waste and Hunger Exist Side by Side
Official surveys indicate that every year more than 350 billion pounds (160 billion kg) of edible food is available for human consumption in the United States. Of that total, nearly 100 billion pounds (45 billion kg) -- including fresh vegetables, fruits, milk, and grain products -- are lost to waste by retailers, restaurants, and consumers.

India losing battle against hunger
I cannot believe it that we are taking this lying down. Or do all of us know that this is a raving lunatic that should not be taken seriously? No wonder the rest of the world hates the US.
Yet another report confirms India’s losing battle against hunger. In the Global Hunger Index, India ranks 117th for the prevalence of underweight children. Only Bangladesh and Nepal are worse-off.
All I can say is Amen to Keshav:
Comments
I'll censor myself, but I concur - what the flying f**k?!
@BrownSuga: My original posts was a lot more fiery. Censored most of the expletives to preserve my dignity.
@Vijay: கஸ்மாலம் is the best word to describe him... I laughed so hard. And as ever, I'll take up the tag.
@Vijay Ganesh: MK and Ramadoss are not the most powerful man in the world who can make or break nations. George Nutcase Bush, unfortunately is.
@Madhu: Welcome to vox and thanks for joining in to comment. Pretty caustic cartoon. Quite deserving. I thought I was the one with foot permanently fixed in my mouth, but Bush beats me hands down.
Bush is good at one thing diverting attention away from the real issues.
This comment actually is in my opinion, one of those falling under that category.
I believe that he doesn't want to admit supporting Ethanol was a bad decision. Afterall, why should corn be used for this? Corn is used in EVERYTHING in US (Corn syrup, modified corn syrup, xantham gum, and so many other food additives that most likely don't actually have the word corn in it) why should corn be used in Gas? After all I believe economically it takes more money to make the ethanol than they are getting back out of it. Why rob the smaller (and poorer) countries of the food staple of corn- driving up their prices and world prices not just for corn but for everything? Corn is a main feed for cows and other livestock that produce not only meat (but mostly meat) but milk and dairy products, so consequently if you want to take it so far, you can say corn-fed cows and chickens produce milk, dairy and eggs with a corn base! When can we move on from ethanol to something else? Obviously it's too hard to admit failure - it's always easier to blame an innocent target!
I wonder how accurate those world maps, reporting hunger, are. Canada has a hunger issue, but it's swept under the proverbial "rug" because we are suppose to be prosperous.
