Vijay tagged me. I usually never let go of tags, for they give my fingers an added excuse to yak.
The instructions are to summarize my life in a six word memoir, with optional photo illustration and to tag six others.
Vijay's was: Aiming for accuracy in grayscale images.
I should say, it should have been : "Aiming for accuracy in Lakshmi's weblife", considering that he has been my unofficial proof reader ever since he stumbled upon my online persona. If ever he decides to quit his professon, he is welcome to be my official proof reader, and I am sure I will keep him busy.
Well, mine is obvious (to me) : Let there be peace on earth
I usually do not pass on tags, but this time I will, and to some of my Vox neighbours and friends -
1. The Doug
2. Purplesque
3 Karen
4. karen
5. Tara
6. BrownSuga'
Take it up if you feel like it....
Vijay and Ramona have conferred on me the "Be the Blog Award". Thank you.
In a lot of ways it seems like an apt award for me, for this blog has become an extension of myself. My thought process has improved since I started blogging. Writing has become easier with practice. Even my job writing seems to have improved since I took to blogging. I have more friends through my blog than I have had in outernet life. Web-2 has been a blessing in my life. I AM MY BLOG.
Thanks again.
There are way too many blogs I follow and admire and most of them have been awarded already. The tip of the iceberg (excluding the science blogs that I follow) include -
Terri's turf
Scanman's notes
A Twist of Word and Mind
Maami's weblog
Tunneling thru
Philosophia Inconsequentia
உள்ளும் புறமும்
Doing Jalsa and Showing Jilpa
Hail Bloggers ! Hail Blogging !
Can someone please clean my kitchen ?
I had been "sorta" tagged by who-else-Vijay. In fact, there is an earlier meme (by him, ofcourse) I am yet to respond to, but this one seemed a tad more interesting.
The rule of the meme is as follows:
Use the 1st letter of your name to answer each of the questions. They must be real places, names, things . . . nothing made up! If you can’t think of anything, skip it. You CAN’T use your name for the boy/girl name question. If your name happens to start with the same letter as mine, sorry, but you can’t use my answers!
So here goes - Most of the answers are by the dude incidentally, it is too late into the night for me to be even awake !
| Famous singer | Lata Mangeshkar |
| Four letter word | What else? LOVE |
| Street | Lakshminarayann street, West Mambalam, Chennai |
| Color | Light blue |
| Gifts/Presents |
Lampshade |
| Vehicle | Lambretta (Dude) |
| Things in a Souvenir Shop | Lots of things (This is DEFINITELY the dude's idea !) |
| Boy’s Name | Lakshman |
| Girl’s Name | Lalitha |
| Movie Title | Love is on the air (Dude) |
| Drink | Lemonade
|
| Occupation |
Locomotive driver (Dude) |
| Celebrity | Laxman, R.K |
| Magazine | Life |
| U. S. City | Los Angeles |
| Pro Sports | Lara, Brian |
| Fruit | Lychee |
| Reason for Being Late for Work | Lost car keys |
| Something You Throw Away |
Leftovers |
| Things you Shout | Lazy bones |
| Cartoon Character | Little Lotta (Dude) |
Vijay dared me to disclose eight random facts about myself. So here goes:
1. I was crazy about the sitcom "Friends" eight years back, and one fine day got so disgusted with my addiction that I decided that I would never watch television ever again in my life. THAT was the last day I watched T.V.
2. I was a high-jump champ in high school. My best height was 1.5 meters, when I was in eighth (what's with eight anyway?) class for which I won the second prize in the school sports meet.
3. I love swimming. But can't crawl. I learned breast stroke by myself, in two days (with a little help from a friend).
4. As a teenager, I sang regularly (carnatic music) in the AIR in their youth program. I can still hold a tune beautifully, and pick up songs/nuances of songs, but my doom is my lack of imagination.
5. I sang at my own wedding "oojnal" ceremony. I sang "Janani ninnuvina" in Reethigowlai and Marukelara in Jayanthasri. From the video of our wedding, it appears that the groom enjoyed it :)
6. For my self-proclaimed love of chocolates, I cannot eat a plain milk or dark chocolate (as in, chocolate without fruits, nuts, caramel or krispies )
7. My "normal" blood pressure is 90/70.
8. My blood sugar is precariously on the lower side of normal. Meaning, I cannot and should not skip a meal (excuses ! excuses !)
Here are my eight, of course, they need not take it up if they have other more pressing commitments :
1. Arunn at Philosophia Inconsequentia (yeah ! like he will have time in the middle of all his ubuntu-ing and nOnosciencing)
2. Terri at Terri's Turf (Even if it is not facts about you, it could be about mom, which I am sure will make us all ROFL)
3. Gawker at A Goose Egg (After that touching post on dad, it seems a sacrilege to tag him, still..)
4. Rads at Chronicles from a caravan (I already know one fact: You love Madras the way I do !)
5. Bharath at Scribblings (when you are done writing up the latest music review, perhaps?)
6. Sujatha at Blogpourri (are you settled in your new home yet?)
7. வெங்கட் at உள்ளும் புறமும் (it would be interesting to read a meme in சுந்தரத் தமிழ்)
8. Deepak at Random Expressions (can the word "random" entice you to do this meme?)
Here are the rules:
1. Players start with 8 random facts about themselves.
2. Those who are tagged should post these rules and their 8 random facts.
3. Players should tag 8 other people and notify them they have been tagged.
